英文中常用“Excuse me, could you please...?”“Could you tell me where...?”

1. —Excuse me, could you please tell me how to get to the bookstore?

—Sure, just go along Main Street until you pass Center Street.

The bookstore is on your right, beside the bank.

2. —Do you know when the bookstore will close today?

—It will close at 7 p.m. today.

3. —Oh, could you tell me where the restrooms are?

—Well, I’m sorry to tell you there is no restroom.

4. —I wonder when the park closes today.

—Nine thirty, so you don’t need to rush!

5. —Excuse me, do you know where I can get some postcards?

—Sure. There’s a post office between the bank and the supermarket.

10. —Excuse me, do you know where I can buy some medicine? There’s a drugstore down the street.

A. I will go to the History Museum.

B. You’re welcome.

C. Can I take a bus?

D. How long will it take me to walk there?

E. That’s such a pity!

F. Where is the bus stop?

G. Could you tell me the way to the History Museum?

1 No wonder!

B: Certainly. Go along this street, turn left into Xingfu Street, and the museum is on your right.

B: It’s about thirty minutes.

B: Yes, you can. A No.103 bus will take you there.

B: Over there. Look! The bus is coming.

A: Thank you very much.

A: Jack’s been looking unhappy lately. B: His girlfriend broke up with him.

A: No wonder! I’d be unhappy, too.

Of course!

“No wonder!”

That medicine really worked wonders. =That medicine really worked miracles.

I wonder if he can do it.

I wonder what he’s doing.

2 That explains it.

A: Susan, I haven’t seen you in the pub for a long time.

B: I have a part-time job now, so I work in the evenings.

A: That explains it.

Now I understand. I see.

He is a full-time teacher in our school. (作形容詞)He works full-time in our company.

3 Is that right?

本句與“Are you sure?”

A: There’s a typhoon coming.

B: Is that right?

A: That’s what the weatherman said last night.

Is that so? Oh, yeah?

英文里表“臺風要來”,除了用“There’s a typhoon coming.”

A typhoon is coming.

= A typhoon is approaching.

= A typhoon is near at hand.

= A typhoon is around the corner.

4 What do you think?

A: I think this painting would look good in our living room. What do you think?

B: Sure. Let’s buy it.

What’s your opinion? What’s your idea? What do you say?

What do you think of John?

What do you think of this movie?

= How do you feel about this movie?

= How do you like this movie?

How do you think of this movie?
