About the author: Ken Liu was born in Lanzhou, China but immigrated with his family to the United States at age 11. He is an author of speculative fiction. Ken's debut novel, The Grace of Kings, is the first volume in the fantasy series, The Dandelion Dynasty: a saga1) of tyranny2), rebellion and rivalry set in a beautifully imagined world of airships and adventurers. In addition to his original fiction, Ken is also the translator of numerous literary and genre works from Chinese to English. His translation of The Three-Body Problem, by Liu Cixin, won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2015, the first translated novel ever to receive that honor.
Plot: Wily3), charming Kuni Garu, a bandit4), and stern, fearless Mata Zyndu, the son of a deposed5) duke, seem like polar opposites. Yet, in the uprising against the emperor, the two quickly become the best of friends after a series of adventures fighting against vast armies, airships and shape-shifting gods. Once the emperor has been overthrown, however, they each find themselves the leader of separate sides, each with very different ideas about how the world should be run and the meaning of justice.

About the author: Lao She was one of the most significant figures of 20th-century Chinese literature, and best known for his novel Rickshaw Boy and the play Teahouse. Cat Country, Lao She's only work of science fiction, is a dark, dystopian tale of one man's close encounter with the feline8) kind.
Plot: When a traveler from China lands on Mars, he finds himself in a country inhabited entirely by Cat People. Befriended by a local cat-man, he comes to know all aspects of cat-life. He learns to speak Felinese, masters cat-poetry, and so on. But curiosity turns to despair when he ventures further into the heart of the country and the culture, and realizes that he is witnessing the decline of a civilization.
