加拿大總督約翰斯頓訪問中國首站來渝這是他第三次來到重慶

加拿大總督戴維?約翰斯頓應(yīng)邀于7月10日—14日正式對中國進行訪問。這是約翰斯頓第二次以總督身份訪華，重慶是其本次訪華的第一站。

此次隨同約翰斯頓訪華的代表團成員，包括政府駐眾議院領(lǐng)袖兼小企業(yè)和旅游部長查格、加拿大駐華大使麥家廉，以及多位國會議員和來自教育、科研、體育、旅游和文化等領(lǐng)域的知名領(lǐng)袖。約翰斯頓及代表團成員與重慶深入探討加強雙方在科技、創(chuàng)新及人文等領(lǐng)域的交流合作，進一步擴展重慶與加拿大的合作機會。

這是約翰斯頓首次以總督身份到訪重慶，但此前他曾兩次訪問重慶大學(xué)，已經(jīng)是重慶的“老朋友”。約翰斯頓任滑鐵盧大學(xué)校長時于2002年訪問重慶，交流辦學(xué)經(jīng)驗；2010年3月，約翰斯頓在重慶大學(xué)，與時任重慶大學(xué)校長李曉紅，分別代表兩校簽署了加拿大滑鐵盧大學(xué)與重慶大學(xué)全面合作協(xié)議，直接推動了重慶大學(xué)與加拿大高校之間的交流合作。

David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, was invited to pay a formal visit to China from July 10 to July 14, which was the second time for him to be invited to China as the Governor General of Canada. Chongqing was the fi rst stop of his visit.

The accompanying delegation members were consisted of Chagger, leader of Government in the House of Representatives and minister of small-sized enterprises and tourism, John McCallum, Canadian Ambassador in China, several members of Parliament and famous leaders from various fields including education, scienti fi c research, sports, tourism and culture. Johnston and his delegation made a deeper exchange of both sides in science and technology, innovation and humanities, which further increased the opportunities for cooperation between Chongqing and Canada.

Although this was the first time for him to visit Chongqing as a General Governor, he had already become attached to Chongqing and visited Chongqing University twice. He was already an “old friend” to Chongqing. When Johnston served as the president of University of Waterloo, he visited Chongqing in 2002 to exchange the experience in education; when he visited Chongqing University in March 2010, a comprehensive cooperation agreement between University of Waterloo and Chongqing University was signed by Johnston and Li Xiaohong, the then President of Chongqing University, which directly promoted the exchange and cooperation between two universities.
