Born in Corsica, a placereigned[統(tǒng)治]by the French, Napoleon waspredestined[注定的]to be extraordinary. It was the historical background that shaped Napoleon’s strong belief in nationalism and his determination, which became themomentum[動(dòng)力]in his personal success.
Few people are born with the required knowledge and power to support their dreams, neither was Napoleon. In his early youth, he read all the books available related to the history of his hometown and France, knowing that his ambition toreverse[完全改變]the destiny of his country would be impossible unless he had learned enough lessons from the past.
It was a hard time. All people saw him as ahomely[不好看的]man lost in the fantasy of the changing France. He was once bitterly laughed at. Despite all these diffculties, he never stopped arming himself with knowledge. No matter how peopleisolated[孤立]him, he tried every means to make it possible to achieve his dreams.
Fortune finally came to him. In Toulon, herepulsed[擊退]enemy attacks, which greatlyboosted[提升]his reputation. His brilliance and energy finally won him the appreciation from the ruler. Before long he waswarranted[授權(quán)]the power to lead the army. However, he never stayed self-contented with his achievements. As hiscombat[戰(zhàn)斗]experience accumulated, he began to set his goal to establish a new empire.
Success is the most demanding goal to achieve, since it requires both practical competence and spiritual power. Napoleon’s longing for glory and success guaranteed him withindomitable[不屈不撓的]courage to overcome all the challenges he encountered time and again, just as Julius Caesar once put it: “I came, I saw, I conquered.”
