1.Western University Scientist Built World’s “Smallest Snowman”加拿大韋仕敦大學(xué)科學(xué)家制作出世界上“最袖珍雪人”

Days before Christmas, 2016, a research scientist Todd Simpson created amicroscopic[極小的]fgure[形象], which he’s calling the world’s “smallest snowman.”

He said the figure was made from three tinycrystal balls[水晶球]stacked[把……疊成堆]on top of each other, with arms and a nose made ofplatinum[鉑].

The figure is less than 3microns[微米]tall—forcomparison[對比], a human hair is about 50 microns indiameter[直徑]—and can only be seen with anelectron microscope[電子顯微鏡].

It has now been placed in its carrier box and stored in the lab.

5.World’s Highest Bridge Opens in Guizhou世界最高的大橋在貴州省通車

Soaring[高聳]565 meters above a river, Beipanjiang Bridge in Guizhou opened to traffic on Dec. 29th, 2016, making it the world’s highest bridge, CCTV reported.

With a heightequivalentto[相當(dāng)于]a 200-storey[樓層]building,stretching over[跨越]the Beipanjiang Valley, the bridge is part of a highway connecting Hangzhou city in East China’s Zhejiang province and Ruili city in Yunnan province.

The bridge cuts travel time from Liupanshui in Guizhou to Xuanwei in Yunnan from around fve hours to less than two hours.

據(jù)CCTV報道，貴州省境內(nèi)的北盤江大橋于2016年12月29日正式通車，且橋面距江水達565米，這使其成為世界上最高的大橋。
