Katniss被第13區(qū)的起義軍救回，Plutarch推薦Katniss為“嘲笑鳥”，作為起義軍的象征，然而總統(tǒng)Coin對她的能力表示質(zhì)疑。

President Coin： Maybe you should have rescued the boy instead.

Plutarch： Oh， no， no. Listen to me. No one else can do this but her.

President Coin： This is not the girl you described.

Plutarch： Obviously， we need to make it personal1. Remind her who the real enemy is.

President Coin： She knows who the enemy is. That's not the issue.2

Plutarch： Unless she's forgotten. There's explaining and there's showing. Let her see what the Capitol did to 12.

President Coin： She can't handle it. The Games destroyed her.

Plutarch： This is the only choice you have. People don't always show up the way you want them to3， Madam President. But that anger， that anger-driven4 defiance （違抗）， that's what we want. And we can redirect （使改變方向） it. We need to unite these people out there that have been doing nothing but killing each other in an arena （角斗場） for years. We have to have a lightning rod （避雷針）. They'll follow her. She's the face of the revolution.5 Let her see it. Let her go home.

實用表達

1. make it personal Personal意為“個人的，私人的”，大家熟知的PC （個人電腦）的全稱就是personal computer。Make it personal這個短語可以譯為“把事情私人化”，也就是說，要把這件事情變成Katniss自己的事情，這樣她才會恢復(fù)往日的斗志，愿意幫助起義軍。如今make it personal的理念在禮品定制網(wǎng)站上十分常見，也就是根據(jù)顧客的要求和特點來提供服務(wù)。與personal相關(guān)的短語中，還有一個短語在口語中比較常用，即take it personally，該短語從字面意思上理解就是“認為是針對自己的”，因此don't take it personally表達的就是“別介意，別往心里去”的意思。比如朋友今天有件很開心的事情迫不及待想和你分享，但你太累，很不耐煩地回應(yīng)了幾句，朋友不禁一臉的失落。你發(fā)現(xiàn)后急忙解釋道：“Don't take it personally， but I'm too tired right now. （別介意，我不是針對你的，我只是現(xiàn)在太累了而已。）”日常生活中，我們?nèi)菀装哑渌说囊谎砸恍衪ake it personally，并因此生悶氣或是不開心，其實很多時候都是我們想多了而已。

2. That's not the issue. Issue意為“問題”，這句話可譯為“這不是問題所在”。Coin認為Katniss知道Snow才是真正的敵人，但她太過情緒化、容易沖動、我行我素，這樣的性格不適合成為起義軍的代表。我們可以把這句話中的the換成an，變成that's not an issue，其意思也就隨之變成“這不是一個問題”，也就是說，這是一件可以解決的小事。如果把the換成my，那又是什么意思呢？相信你已經(jīng)猜到了，意思就是“這不是我的問題”。如果有一個朋友總是向你抱怨生活，你一開始熱心聆聽，漸漸開始有些厭煩甚至招架不住，這時不妨甩他一句：“That's your issue， not mine！ ”關(guān)心他人、真誠助人是好事，但一定要有底線和原則。況且，對于這種永遠處于負能量狀態(tài)的朋友，還是遠離為妙。

3. People don't always show up the way you want them to ... 這句話意為：人們不會總按照你的意志行事…… Plutarch的這句話極有深意。他不只是在說Katniss，同時也是在針對Coin。也許他很早就看出Coin其實就是第二個Snow，因此，他在Katniss最終選擇殺死Coin后對她說：“Katniss， maybe the country was shocked tonight by your arrow， but once again I was not. You're exactly what I believe you were.”Show up有“出現(xiàn)；露面”的意思，比如美國著名導演伍迪·艾倫曾說過一句話：Eighty percent of success is showing up. （成功的80%在于露面。）如果你都不愿意出現(xiàn)在人前開始去做你要做的事情，又何談成功呢？有點“萬事開頭難”的意思。而在上面的臺詞中，show up是“表現(xiàn)”的意思。這句話是個省略句，補全后為：People don't always show up （in） the way （that） you want them to （show up）.

4. –driven Driven是drive的過去分詞，drive除了“駕駛”之外，還有“驅(qū)動”的意思。Be driven by是一個常用詞組，意為“由……驅(qū)動”，比如：The engines are driven by steam. （這些發(fā)動機是由蒸汽驅(qū)動的。）名詞和driven用連字符相連就變成了形容詞，可譯為“……驅(qū)動的”，如steam-driven engines （蒸汽驅(qū)動的發(fā)動機）、market-driven economy （市場驅(qū)動的經(jīng)濟）、a goal-driven person （一個目標驅(qū)動的人，即行動的動力來自于目標）。

5. She's the face of the revolution. 這句話可直譯為“她是革命的臉面”，也就是“她是革命的代言人”。這一用法在各大媒體的文章中十分常見，如：Putin is the face of Russia. （普京是俄羅斯的代言人。） Face在這里就是“臉面”的意思，要表達“丟臉”，可以用lose face。

Katniss來到第8區(qū)看望醫(yī)院里的傷員，傷員們表示愿意追隨Katniss，和Snow政府對抗到底。Snow知道后立即派出轟炸機把醫(yī)院炸成廢墟，Katniss憤慨不已，發(fā)表了以下的即興演說。

Katniss： I want the Rebels to know that I'm alive. That I'm in District 8 where the Capitol just bombed a hospital filled with unarmed （手無寸鐵的） men， women and children. And there will be no survivors. If you think for one second1 that the Capitol will ever treat us fairly you are lying to yourselves. Because we know who they are and what they do. This is what they do！ And we must fight back. I have a message for President Snow. You can torture us and bomb us and burn our districts to the ground2. But do you see that？ Fire is catching.3 And if we burn， you burn with us！

實用表達

1. think for one second Second在這里并不是“第二”的意思，而是“秒”的意思。Think for one second意為“曾經(jīng)想過……，哪怕只是短暫的一秒”，其中for one second起強調(diào)作用。我們再來看看與think有關(guān)的一些表達。Think twice/again意為“再三考慮；再三斟酌”，如：Think twice before you act. （三思而后行。）而not think twice就是“想都沒想，不假思索”的意思，如：I didn't think twice—I accepted the job straight away. （我想都沒想，就立刻接受了這份工作。） Think outside the box意為“創(chuàng)造性思考；想到解決問題的新方法”，如：Employees are encouraged to think outside the box and develop creative solutions. （公司鼓勵員工們創(chuàng)造性思考，想出有創(chuàng)意的解決方案。）

2. burn sth. to the ground 該短語意為“化為灰燼；夷為平地”。類似的表達還有burn down （燒毀；焚毀），如：There was a fire， and the old factory was burned down. （發(fā)生了一場大火，那個舊工廠被燒毀了。）關(guān)于burn還有一個很有意思的習語，即burn a hole in sb.'s pocket。試想一下，如果一個人的口袋里被燒了個洞，是不是就會把錢都漏光？這個習語就是“某人錢存不??；一有錢就想花”的意思，注意使用時主語是錢，如：I had a fifty dollar bill that was burning a hole in my pocket. （我口袋里有50美元特別想花出去。）

3. Fire is catching. Catch作為及物動詞，與fire連用，表示“著火了”，如：The building caught fire at seven. （建筑物是7點著火的。）不過catch用作不及物動詞比較少見，在臺詞中fire作了主語，fire is catching可譯為“星星之火已成燎原之勢”。另外關(guān)于fire的表達還有start a fire （放火）、light a fire （點火）、fight/tackle/put out a fire （滅火）、be playing with fire （玩火自焚）等。

實用表達

1. by that point Point有很多含義，可以表示各種各樣的“點”，如觀點、論點、要點、地點、時間點、小數(shù)點等。By that point是時間短語，意為“在那之前”，臺詞中的原句“Anyone could see the game was over by that point.”意為：任誰都能看出來游戲在那之前就結(jié)束了。Point表示時間的短語還有at that point （在那個時候）、on the point of （正要……之際），如：She looked on the point of tears. （她看起來就要哭了。）

2. was just about to Be about to do sth.意為“即將做某事”，常與when連用，如：I was about to do my homework when my father came in. （正當我要開始做作業(yè)的時候，父親進來了。）臺詞中的原句“I was just about to issue an official surrender when they released those parachutes.”意為：我正要正式宣布投降呢，他們投放了那些降落傘炸彈。

3. hold back 該短語所在的臺詞原句為：I was bombing our own helpless children to hold back the Rebels. Hold back有很多含義，在這里是“阻止”的意思。原句意為：我炸死己方那些無助兒童是為了阻止叛軍。此外，hold back還有“抑制（眼淚）”和“隱瞞”的含義，如：① I held my tears back when I heard the bad news. （聽到噩耗的時候，我忍住了眼淚。） ② She held back vital information. （她隱瞞了重要信息。）

4. turn ... against Against作為介詞，有“對抗”的意思，所以turn ... against就是“使……對抗”，即“反對；背叛”的含義。該短語所在臺詞原句“It turned the last of my guards against me.”意為：這件事使我最后的自衛(wèi)隊背叛了我。這里的turn也可以用作不及物動詞，即turn against sb.，如：He turned against me after being told that I'd been insulting him. （當?shù)弥乙恢痹谖勖锼臅r候，他與我反目成仇了。）

5. make no mistake 這是一句習語，意為“毫無疑問，千萬別搞錯”，如：Make no mistake， if you are not home by 11， you'll be grounded for a week！ （千萬記住了，如果你11點前不回家，就得禁足一周！）在影片中，Snow說：“Oh， make no mistake， she intends to take my place now. （哦，千萬別搞錯，她現(xiàn)在正打算取代我的位置。）”他并非在好心提醒Katniss看清Coin是個什么樣的人，而是借此諷刺Katniss對他的反叛只不過是幫助制造了另一個Snow而已。

6. be played for fools Fool是“傻瓜，白癡”的意思，所以play sb. for fools意為“把某人當成白癡一樣玩弄”。Snow在嘲諷Katniss的同時也在自嘲：I'm afraid we have both been played for fools. （恐怕我們兩個都被Coin當白癡耍了。）類似的短語還有make a fool of sb. （讓某人出丑；愚弄）、make a fool of oneself （出丑；讓別人看笑話）。
