1. Labrador Retriever2 拉布拉多獵犬

The Labrador Retriever is a gentle， outgoing and friendly breed. It was bred originally3 as a hunting dog. Yet it can go from the hunt to the circus and to the family room with a kind nature.

拉布拉多獵犬是一個(gè)溫順的品種，它性格外向、友善。最早主要用作獵犬，因性格溫順，也適合馬戲團(tuán)或家庭喂養(yǎng)。

2. Golden Retriever 金毛獵犬

The Golden Retriever is a highly intelligent4 breed， which is often used as a guide dog for the blind. Golden Retrievers are also hunters， family pets， and show dogs. They tend to be friendly and good-natured， and rarely show hostility5 towards people or animals.

金毛獵犬是一種高智商品種，通常用作導(dǎo)盲犬。它們也是很好的獵犬、家庭寵物和表演犬。金毛獵犬性格友善、溫和，一般對人和動物沒有敵意。

3. German Shepherd 德國牧羊犬

This is a breed developed in Germany. Shepherds are very intelligent dogs， and are used as guide dogs， police dogs， and family pets. They are curious， faithful6， and obedient7 and love to take part in all activities.

德國牧羊犬是德國培養(yǎng)出的一個(gè)品種。它智商高，通常用作導(dǎo)盲犬、警犬和家庭寵物。它們好奇心強(qiáng)、忠誠、聽話，而且喜愛參加各種活動。

4. Rottweiler 洛特維勒牧犬

Rottweilers are a powerful and confident breed， and make excellent guard dogs. They are often used for police work， since they have a strong inclination8 to work.

洛特維勒牧犬力量大而自信，因此它是一種優(yōu)秀的護(hù)衛(wèi)犬。它們通常被用來從事警務(wù)工作，因?yàn)樗鼈兒茉敢鉃槠涔ぷ鳌?/p>

5. Yorkshire Terrier 約克郡犬

The Yorkshire Terrier is a pretty but tiny dog. This dog is quite independent， but also makes a great companion9. “Yorkies” are best for retired people， or those with a lot of time on their hands.

6. Pekingese 北京哈巴狗

Dont call local people in Beijing， Pekingese， because the word “Pekingese” means a breed of dog. Pekingeses are very brave little dogs， even foolhardy10 at times！ They are sensitive， independent and very tame11 for their masters， but they are on guard against strangers.

千萬別叫北京當(dāng)?shù)厝恕癙ekingese”，因?yàn)椤癙ekingese”是一種狗的名稱。北京哈巴狗個(gè)小勇敢，但有時(shí)卻有勇無謀。它們敏感、自立性差，對主人特別溫順，但對陌生人尤為警惕。

7. Dachshund 臘腸犬

The Dachshund is smart， active， and very faithful to its owner， often focusing on one person and not obeying others. This makes them an ideal pet for the single person. The breed was developed in Germany over 300 years.

臘腸犬聰明、活躍，對主人忠心，有時(shí)只服從一個(gè)人，不會聽從其他人的話。因此，它是單身人士的理想寵物。這種狗在德國已有300多年的歷史了。

8. Beagle 小獵犬

The Beagle is a famous breed of hunter and was originally bred for fox-hunting. Beagles should never be allowed out without a leash12， as they love to go off hunting on their own.

小獵犬是名氣響亮的獵人，最早是養(yǎng)它來獵狐貍。它外出時(shí)，一定要拴好狗頸的皮帶，因?yàn)樗鼤?dú)自逃脫的。

9. Poodle 貴婦犬

As the national dog of France， Poodles can be shaped to their owners personal tastes. While an over-groomed13 appearance can make them look silly， they are intelligent and loving pets.

貴婦犬是法國的國狗，它的毛可按照主人個(gè)人的愛好來修剪。盡管它們打扮過度的外貌讓它們看起來有點(diǎn)傻氣，但它們還是聰明、可愛的寵物。

10. Chihuahua 吉娃娃

This cute little dog has been both a popular pet and a religious symbol since native Indians ruled Mexico. It is very adaptable14 and loves to travel.
