又是新的一年了，大家肯定有很多的期望和設(shè)想。同學們有沒有展望未來呢？隨著科技的發(fā)展，人類征服自然、創(chuàng)造奇跡的能力不斷增強。如果今年是2060年，同學們對生活都有哪些美好的憧憬呢？讓我們共同期待一下未來的美好生活吧！

Let us suppose1it is now 2060. Of course, things have changed and life is very different.

讓我們設(shè)想現(xiàn)在是2060年，當然事物已經(jīng)改變了，生活是非常不同的。

Voyages1to the moon are being made every day. It is as easy to take a holiday on the moon today as it was for the people in 1960 to take a holiday in Europe. In order that everyone can enjoy the beautiful scenery on the moon, every room has at least one window.

What are people eating now? People are still eating food. They haven’t yet started to take on their supply of energy directly as electrical current1or as nuclear2power. They may some day. But many foods now come in pill form, and the food that goes into the pill continues to comemainly from green plants.

Since there are several times as many people in the world today as there were a hundred years ago, most of our planet’s surface has to be filled. Deserts are irrigated1with water and crops are no longer destroyed by pests. The harvest2is always good.

因為現(xiàn)在世界上的人口是一百多年前的很多倍，大部分行星的表面都要被填滿。沙漠用水灌溉，莊稼不再被害蟲破壞，總是有一個好的收成。

Farming, of course, is very highly developed. Very few people have to work on the farm. It is possible to run the farm by just pushing a few buttons now and then.

當然，農(nóng)業(yè)發(fā)展非常迅速，很少人在農(nóng)場工作，因為只要不時按幾下按鈕就可以運行整個農(nóng)場了。

People are now largely vegetarians1. You see, as the number of people increases, the number of animals decreases. Therefore, the people have to be vegetarians and we are healthier both in our bodies and in our minds, and we know the causes of diseases and pain and cures for them, and it is possible to get rid of diseases. No one has to be ill any more.

現(xiàn)在的人大都是素食主義者。你了解的，隨著人口數(shù)量的增加，動物的數(shù)量減少了。因此，人們必須是素食主義者，才能在身體和思想上都更健康。我們了解引起疾病的原因和治療方法，就有可能擺脫疾病，沒有人會再生病了。
