Baoti Group Supplied 90% Titanium Alloy Material to China’s Air and Space Industry

On September 5, the journalist learned from the Shaanxi Province State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission that, as the key R&D production base of Titanium alloy material for China’s air and space industry, Shaanxi Nonferrous Baoti Group supplied 90% Titanium alloy material usage to China’s air and space industry, making it the main supplier of Titanium alloy for China’s new fighters and big planes.

The journalist learned that, Baoti Group has undertaken trial production tasks for over 8000 new materials in China’s material preparation and cutting-edge technology, and attained more than 600 scientific achievements.

High-end titanium material enjoys the fame of “aerial metal”, its research and production cannot go without state-of-the-art equipment, adhering to the guidelines of “introduction, digestion, and improvement”, Baoti Group implemented a series of updating and upgrading on technological equipment, and massively introduced manufacture and testing technological equipment with global advanced standard from Germany, Japan, USA, and Austria, which lifted the enterprise’s overall equipment standard to global advanced standard.

Seeking orientation from the market, Baoti Group progrssively developed Ti-6AL-4V Titanium alloy large diameter bar product, superplastic forming Titanium alloy sheet for aviation structural components, and Ti-6AL-4V Titanium alloy large dimension medium-thick sheet products for air and space use, which nearly monopolized the domestic market of titanium products for air and space use. On the domestic C919 big plane, its titanium metal compound material is developed and made by Baoti Group Co., Ltd. It supplied Titanium alloy bar products, thick sheet and thin sheet materials in multiple specifications for the first C919 aircraft.

Recently, Baoti Group made breakthroughs to overcome technical difficulties in technology and equipment, and produced TC4 seamless tube, a product of the biggest dimension in China, which filled a void in the domestic market.

The 4500 meters deep submergence vehicle Titanium alloy manned spherical hull developed by Baoti Group boasts total self-owned intellectual property rights, and accomplished domestic production of key components, with vigorous support from relevant ministries and commissions, it made significant historical breakthrough. This project progressively made breakthroughs in multiple key technologies including development of wide Titanium alloy thick plate, overall molding of Titanium alloy half sphere, development of special welding wire & narrow-gap welding technique, Titanium alloy large structural component electron beam welding technique, thermal processing and processing deformation of sphere, which filled multiple voids in domestic deep submergence vehicle and Titanium alloy research fields, and reached international leading standard.
