A new year calls for new cosmetic regulations—at least in China. China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA)has released the final amended version of the Inventory of Existing Cosmetics Ingredients in China (IECIC 2015).Nine ingredients have been added. They are:
raspberry ketone glucoside;
hesperidinase;
harungana madagascariensis extract;
undeceth-3;
PEG-50 hydrogenated palmamide;
PEG/PPG-150/30 copolymer;
decyl isostearate;
tris(PPG-3 benzyl ether) citrate; and
chondrus crispus (carrageenan).
Nine ingredients have been deleted because they are covered by other entries, according to CFDA. They are:
thymus serpyllum extract;
oryza sativa extract;
tilia cordata extract;
coffea arabica extract;
citrus limonium extract;
jasminum sambac (jasmine) flower water;
chamomilla recutita (matricaria) dried flower;
papaver somniferum seed extract; and
gleditsia sinensis thorn extract.
The names of 141 cosmetics ingredients have been changed, which are summarized in Annex II of the IECIC.
More than a year ago, CFDA requested input on changes to the inventory, which still contains 8,783 ingredients.
