第三部分 閱讀理解(共5小題;每小題2分,滿分10分)
Man is a land animal, but he is also closely tied to the sea. Throughout history the sea has served the needs of man. The sea has provided man with food and a convenient way to travel to many parts of the world. Today, nearly two-thirds of the worlds population live within 80 kilometers of the sea coast.
In the modern technological world, the sea offers many resources to help mankind survive. Resources on land are beginning to be used up. The sea, however, still can meet many of mans needs.
The list of riches of the sea yet to be developed by mans technology is impressive. Oil and gas explorations have been carried out for nearly 30 years. Valuable amounts of minerals exist on the ocean floor ready to be mined (開采).
Fish farming promises to be a good way to produce large quantities of food. The culture of fish and shellfish is an ancient skill practised in the past mainly by Oriental people, like Japanese and Chinese.
Besides oil and gas, the sea may offer new sources of energy. Experts believe that the warm temperature of the ocean can be used in a way similar to the steam in a steamship. Ocean currents and waves offer possible use as a source of energy.
Technology is enabling man to explore ever more deeply under the sea. The development of strong, new materials has made this possible.
The technology to harvest the sea continues to improve. Experts believe that in the future the problems that prevent us from exploiting fully the food, minerals, and energy sources of the sea will be largely solved.

C. The problems that prevent us from using the sources of the sea have been solved.
D. In the near future the technology will be good enough to exploit all the sea resources.
55. Whats the best title of this passage?
A. Sea Harvest B. Sea Food

第四部分 寫作(共三節(jié),滿分50分)
第一節(jié) 閱讀表達(dá)(共5小題;每小題2分,滿分10分)
閱讀下面短文,并按照題目要求用英語回答問題。
Watching some children trying to catch butterflies one hot August afternoon, I was reminded of an incident in my own childhood. When I was a boy of 12 in South Carolina, something happened to me that cured me forever of wanting to put any wild creature in a cage.
We lived on the edge of a wood, and every evening at dusk the mockingbirds would come and rest in the trees and sing. There isnt any musical instrument made by man that can produce a more beautiful sound than the song of the mockingbird.
I decided that I would catch a young bird and keep it in a cage and in that way I would have my own private musician.
I finally succeeded in catching one and put it in a cage. At first, in its fright at being caught, the bird fluttered about the cage, but eventually it settled down in its new home. I felt very pleased with myself and looked forward to some beautiful singing from my tiny musician.
I had left the cage out on our back porch, and on the second day of the birds captivity (囚禁) my new pets mother flew to the cage with food in her mouth. The baby bird ate everything she brought to it. I was pleased to see this. Certainly the mother knew better than I how to feed her baby.
The following morning when I went to see how my captive was doing, I discovered it on the floor of the cage, dead. I was shocked! What had happened! I had taken excellent care of my little bird, or so I thought.
Arthur Wayne, the famous ornithologist (鳥類學(xué)家), happened to be visiting my father at the time, hearing me crying over the death of my bird, explained what had happened. “A mother mockingbird, finding her young in a cage, will sometimes bring it poisonous berries. She thinks it better for her young to die than to live in captivity.”
Never since then have I caught any living creature and put it in a cage. All living creatures have a right to live free.
56. Where did the writer live when he was 12? (no more than 9 words)

第二節(jié) 短文改錯(cuò)(滿分15分)
Last weekend we decided to spend a day in the country. The only trouble is that other people had exactly same idea. We moved out of the city slowly behind a long line of car, and at last we came to a quiet country road and, before some time, stopped on a lonely farm. We got our food out of the car but sat down near a path at the foot of a hill. It was very peace in the cool grass—until we heard of bells ringing at the top of the hill. That we saw made us pick up our things and ran back to the car. Hundreds of sheep was coming toward us down the path!
