The Project “Research and Development of Monocrystalline Multi-interstitial HTS-3 Zeolite Catalyst” Passed Technical Appraisal of Sinopec Corp

On January 26, 2014 the project “Research and development of monocrystalline multi-interstitial HTS-3 zeolite catalyst”jointly undertaken by RIPP and Sinopec’s Catalyst Branch Company has passed the technical appraisal sponsored by the Science and Technology Division of the Sinopec Corp. The researchers engaging in laboratory study have developed methods for control over hydrolysis of titanate ester, preparation of large crystals and rearrangement of complex additives, leading to successful manufacture of monocrystalline multi-interstitial Ti-Si zeolite to realize a homogeneous distribution of Ti species on zeolite surface. This method can reduce the crystallization time and improve the stability of synthesized product as well as the repeatability of experimental results.

The characterization and evaluation results have shown that the HTS-3 zeolite catalyst possesses more active sites and better catalytic performance that can be advantageous to diffusion of reactants molecules. This catalyst with a relative crystallinity of over 95% and a titanium content of more than 4.0% has a phenol hydroxylation activity of more than 24% and an accelerated ammonium-oximation catalyst life of over 125 hours. In the course of commercial production of the HTS-3 zeolite catalyst the research team has investigated, integrated and innovated a range of new preparation techniques to increase the product yield and secure the product quality.

The HTS-3 zeolite catalyst has been applied in the cyclohexanone oximation unit at the Baling Petrochemical Company, the Shijiazhuang Refining and Chemical Company and the Zhejiang Baling Hengyi Caprolatam Company with improved catalyst efficiency, with the membrane flushing cycle extended to more than 3 months.
