Waking up before your alarm clock and realizing youve got lots of sleep time left

Dark windows, dead silence, dim[黯淡的] moonlight dancing on the walls. The night is calm and quiet and peaceful.

And then BOOM.

Your eyes burst open and you bust out[沖出] of bed in an adrenaline[腎上腺素]-gushing[涌出], brain-rushing state of emergency. Dizzy[昏眩的] and blind, you urgently stumble[蹣跚而行] over to the clock as thoughts zoom through your head—am I late for work, did I miss the buzzer[嗡嗡作響的東西], do I have time for a shower?

You swipe[猛擊] the clock, zoom it up to your squinty[瞇眼的] eyeballs, and get a good look.

“4:56 a.m.,” it screams in its trademark[標志] bright-red fluorescent[熒光的] silence.

“4:56 a.m.”

Your hazy[迷糊的] half-asleep brain slowly clicks into gear[機器開動]. “Much early than morning,” you piece things together slowly, “time more sleep now.”

And then a slow, thin smile curls on your lips as you turn to stare at your crumpled[褶皺的] cocoon[繭] and dive back into Bedhead[床頭板] Paradise. Oh, you know that second dip[沉浸] into Dreamland will be a doozy[極好的東西] for a few big reasons:

* Ready to rock. The bed is pre-warmed, the mattress[床墊] pre-dented[產生凹痕的], and the other side of the pillow is just waiting to hug your hot, salty head. Detangle[打理] the sheets and youre good to go.

* Dare to dream. If that rocking dream youre having is still fresh in your head, you might be able to clench[緊抓] your eyes, squeeze[擠] your brain, and pop right back into it.

* Take a break. Your body woke up early because it felt pretty rested, so the extra sleep is just its way of saying“Go ahead, take a long lunch[較長時間的午休].” People, this is like a snow day without the shoveling[鏟]—just a big puddle[水坑] of free time to soak up[吸收] guilt-free.

Yes, waking up before your alarm clock and realizing youve got lots of sleep time left is a great thing. Sure, your heart pulses and your brain convulses[震撼], but you quickly realize theres a long time to go before morning.

So snore[打鼾] on and snooze[打盹] strong, my friends. AWESOME!

Waking up and realizing its Sat urday

The smell of f reshly cut grass

Freshly cut grass smells like twilight[黎明,黃昏] in the countryside, a football game about to start at the park, or a sunny Saturday morning in the suburbs[郊外]. So whether youre driving down a dusty farm road while the sun sets, stretching before the whistle[口哨] blows[吹], or putting your lawnmower[剪草機] back in the shed[棚] after crisscrossing[交叉移動] your lot[一塊地], just stop for a second, tip[傾斜] your head back real far, and take a big whiff[吸氣], baby.

AWESOME!

That friendly nod bet ween strangers out doing the same thing

Gliding[滑行] down the bike path on a Saturday morning, you whip[急走] by somebody pedaling[蹬車] in the opposite direction and give each other a nod. For a moment its like “Hey, were both doing the same thing. Lets be friends for a second.”

Also applies to[適用于] seeing someone driving the same car as you, walking their dog past you on Sunday morning, or squeezing the melon[甜瓜] beside you in the grocery store[食品雜貨店].

AWESOME!

When youre really tired and about to fall asleep and someone throws a blanket[毯子] on you.

Hey, you know whats even better than taking a nap on the couch[長沙發(fā)]? Well, Ill tell you: that feeling you get just before you fall asleep on the couch.

Yes, thats when you enter that blissful[幸福的], semiconscious[半清醒的] Pre-Nap World where your thoughts float and zoom[嗡嗡聲] around your brain and your muscles relax and detensify[松弛]. The sun feels warm on your face, the radio in the background fades[消褪] to a comforting white noise, and you know… you just know… that youre about to fall asleep.

It feels great.

There are really only two things that can disturb you when youre in the Pre-Nap World:

1. Feeling like you have to go to the bathroom. Sorry, but unless you trust your bladder[膀胱] to balloon without bursting, you might just have to get up for this one. Nobody can really help you go to the bathroom while youre lying on the couch, unless they really, really love you.

2. Feeling cold. You get those old lying-on-thecouch shivers[寒顫]. You know your sheets and blankets are back on your bed, and you could just get up to get them, but you dont really want to move because then youll leave the blissful Pre-Nap World. And its a nice world. Its a world you dont leave lightly.

So thats why its great whenever someone notices your dilemma[進退兩難] and just quietly grabs[抓起] a blanket from the closet and tosses[投擲] it on your semiconscious self. If theyre really nice, they even flap[拍打] the blanket above you and let it open up and softly land on you.

When that happens, you immediately feel the warmth radiating[散發(fā)出] around you, a tiny smile curls itself on the corners of your lips, and you fall deeper and deeper into a nice, relaxing rest.

AWESOME!
