Andy（Seth Rogen飾）正在準(zhǔn)備人生中的第一場公路旅行，沿途向各大公司推銷自己研制的清潔產(chǎn)品。在得知母親Joyce（Barbra Streisand飾）的一段往事后，他決定和母親開始一段讓他畢生難忘的旅途。盡管只是短短八天的旅途，帶來的卻是Joyce無窮無盡的抱怨和吐槽，而Andy也早已厭煩了這一切。創(chuàng)業(yè)青年與嘮叨的母親之間的情感會在一場公路旅行中產(chǎn)生怎樣的微妙變化呢？在沖突之后，旅途重新回歸平靜。而Andy也漸漸發(fā)現(xiàn)他和媽媽之間的共同點要遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)大于他們之間的區(qū)別——也就是說，在母子關(guān)系和親情上，他們有著不可回避的情感紐帶。而媽媽在路途中給Andy的忠告和建議，似乎能讓Andy重新找到生活的目標(biāo)和方向——這正是Andy所迫切需要的。

Andy： The what？

Joyce： Its time you know this about me， Andy.

Joyce： Well there was this incident in my life that I really never told you about. I went to Florida on vacation. I was very young， 19， 20， something like that.

Andy： Okay. Good.

Joyce： And I met a boy， and I fell in love with him.

Andy： Yeah.

Andy： What about the guy from… You met in Florida？

Joyce： Well he became boyfriend number one. And your dad became boyfriend number two.

Andy： Oh.

Joyce： No， honey.

Andy： Thats 3）nasty！

Joyce： It was a trampy year for Mommy.

Andy： Oh.

Joyce： Please， anyway…

Andy： Why are you telling me this？

Joyce： Your father proposed within， like， a month， I think. So I went to the boy and I said， you know， “I met somebody and he wants to marry me，” hoping that he would say，“Joyce， you cannot do that.” You know. “You cannot marry this guy.” But he didnt say that. You know what he actually said？ He said， “Youre great.” But he told me to marry your father. Oh God. I was so 4）devastated. I was so devastated that I couldnt even see him again.

Andy： Well what happened？

Joyce： Well， what happened？ I married your father， we moved， I got pregnant， and…when we found out it was a boy， you know， I started going through names， as people do. And you want your child to remind you of someone you love…loved. And so I named you Andy after the boy from Florida.

Joyce： You want to drive cross-country in a car with me？

Andy： Yeah. No， its…You know， we wont be gone long. Its only 8 days in a car together， and then I got to be in San Francisco. My last meetings in San Francisco now.

Joyce： What happened to Vegas？

Andy： I got a new meeting last night in San Francisco， so…

Joyce： Oh.

Andy： Uh…yeah！ What do you say？

Joyce： If this is you worrying about me， Andy， you dont have to because Mommys fine.

Andy： Thats not at all what it is， Ma. I…I…I…

Joyce： What？

Andy： Ive had such a good time hanging out with you these last few days， I thought it would be fun to hang out even more and spend time with you.

Joyce： Wait a minute. I want to make sure that Im hearing this correctly. You want to spend a week in a car with your mother. Is that what I heard？

Andy： More than anything in the world.

Joyce： Dont you think I would drive you crazy？ Dont you think I might get on your nerves a little bit？

Andy： No， you know what？ If…h(huán)oney…it was just a thought and if you dont want to do it， then fine. I dont want to push you…

Joyce： What？ What？ Am I so awful that you cant spend a little time in a car with me？

Andy： Jesus Christ， Ma， how did you turn this around？ I just invited you to…Im inviting you！ Do you want to drive across the country with me？

Joyce： Well， I might have to reroute my mail.

Andy： Okay.

Joyce： Id have to miss my book club.

Joyce： Well， why dont you just say that？ I mean， keep it simple. Make it clear. I would get personal with them， too. Like， you talk about their kids， talk about their pets， possibly seeing one of their loved ones， 9）writhing in 10）agony on the floor because they just accidentally swallowed some of these other brands， you know？

Andy： Thats good. You know what I should do is actually bring in a kid and poison it in front of them. What that would be like…

Joyce： Now youre being silly， Andy. Im just saying， if its safe to put on your skin， then put it on your skin. If its safe to drink it…

Andy： Yeah.

Joyce： …drink it.

Joyce： Oh， I…you know what？ Ill tell you what I would do. Andy： What would you do？

Andy： No.

Andy： No. Its Scieoclean， and its kind of hard to change the name， because its written on 10，000 bottles that Ive already paid for， so…

Joyce： I dont know what to say.

Andy： Finally.

Joyce： “Finally” you said？ I cant do anything right by you， can I， Andy？ Everything I say is wrong， everything I do is wrong. Go ahead. Why dont you keep insulting me？ Cause you havent made it quite clear just how much you cant stand being with me！ What do you think？ Im stupid？ You think Im stupid？ No. You think I dont know that you went to school in California so that youd only have to see me once a year？ Why， Andy？ Why？ What did I do wrong？ What did I do？ Did I care for you too much？ Did I love you too much？ What did I do？

Joyce： Its not okay！ This is the way you talk to me？ Like Im some thing that has to be tolerated？ Well let me tell you something， kiddo. You dont have to like me， or spend time with me. But as long as Im your mother， you will treat me with respect.

大吵過后，Joyce獨自去了酒吧，與一大群男人一起喝酒聊天，Andy去找Joyce，卻因為和酒吧的人意見不合而大打出手。Andy與Joyce冰釋前嫌。在新的一場推介會上，Andy終于明白自己的推銷方式確實讓人覺得無聊透頂，他臨時決定采納Joyce的建議，最終獲得了成功。

Andy： As I previously stated， a 15）neutral 16）pH reading is somewhere between 6 and 8. Now if you recall， Scieoclean came in at 7， whick was perfect. Do you have kids？ You have any pets or anything like that？

Amy： Yes， I do. I have a dog and a little girl.

Andy： Okay. What are their names？

Amy： Mr. 18）Pickles and Gabriella.

Andy： Oh thats funny. If I have a daughter， Im gonna name her Mr. Pickles as well.

Amy： （laughs） Sorry.

Andy： So let me ask you， um， you probably go through great pains to prevent Mr. Pickles and Gabriella from dying， if Im not mistaken.

Amy： Well yes， I would.

Andy： Is this what you normally clean your house with？ Its whatevers on sale. Its usually blue or yellow， or something…

Amy： That would be correct， yes.

Andy： Well， heres the problem with that. Its extremely poisonous. And its really dangerous. And I can show you statistics and experiments that prove that my product doesnt only clean better than those， but its safer. But if Ive shown you one thing， its that that is really boring. So instead， Ill just do this.

Amy： Ill step back for the experiment. （Andy drinks Scieoclean.） Wow， Im impressed. I am.

Andy： Scieoclean is the best cleaning product thats ever been invented. Its completely natural， its completely safe， and it cleans better than any product on the market. If any of my competitors are making the same claim， all I say is， come on TV and drink your product. But I dont think you will， because no one wants to shit blood on TV. Thats it. Thats all I got.

Margolis： 26 years.

Margolis： Yeah， my moms in Florida now.

Andy： We should probably get going.

Joyce： I dont know if my son mentioned this， but I dated your father for a while， before he met your mother.

Margolis： Really？

Joyce： Yeah. And， um， I just wondered， did he ever talk about that part of his life？

Andy： Ma.

Margolis： No， no， no. Its okay. Um， no， Im sorry， I didnt know. My dad never talked about anybody but my mom， at least not to us.

Joyce： Right. Of course not. He was a very， very nice man. Very very nice to me. And Im really sorry for your loss.

Margolis： Thank you.

Joyce Margolis： Hi， Im here！ You have enough mail here to choke a horse！ Hi， oh sorry， I didnt realize you had company.

Margolis： No， no， thats okay. These are old friends of Dads. This is my sister.

Andy： Hi， Im Andy.

Joyce Margolis： Hi. Joyce. Nice to meet you.
