The best known seafood of Zhuhai， a city located in Guangdong Province in southern China， is likely oyster. Oysters are mainly found in warmer marine areas. Xiangzhou Bay in Zhuhai has been known for its oyster cultivation for more than 100 years， but today it faces dual challenges from sea pollution and urban construction. Since the end of the 1970s， when urban expansion began to accelerate， many oyster farms in the area have been squeezed out. Due to pollution and a few other factors， the oysters available from remaining traditional oyster farms are mostly small and immature. Large and fat specimens are increasingly hard to find.
