Given the high incidence of cervical lymph node metastasis in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) and the rapidly increased importance of neck dissection in DTC,the journal ofGland Surgeryis launching a special issue on “Neck Dissection in Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma” in November Issue of 2013,inviting Dr.Xinying Li from Xiangya Hospital,China,as the guest editor.

Gland Surgery(Gland Surg; Print ISSN 2227-684X; Online ISSN 2227-8575,www.glandsurgery.org) is an open access,peer review journal published quarterly with articles focusing in the fi eld of gland diseases.

In this special issue of “Neck Dissection in Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma”,the guest editor Dr.Xinying Li,together with experts from different countries,shared their knowledge and experience in neck dissection for DTC with us.Besides seven up-to-date review articles discussing diverse aspects of neck dissection in DTC surgery,the special issue also includes a Surgical Technique article revealing safeguards and pitfalls in neck dissection and a Visualized Surgery article demonstrating the surgical approaches in parathyroid adenoma resections.With preview of content as follows,we hope this issue will serve as a practical handbook of neck dissection in DTC.
