Yang Mi was born in Beijing. Her father was a policeman. Since all the three family members’ surname (姓) is Yang， that is， the cube (立方) of “Yang”， she got her name Yang Mi.

楊冪出生于北京，父親是民警。因為一家三口都姓楊，也就是“楊”的3次方，她因此得名楊冪。

When Yang Mi was young， she was very naughty (頑皮的). She couldn’t learn anything while other kids were learning playing the piano， dancing and calligraphy (書法). So her parents asked her to take part in a training class for little actors and actresses.

楊冪小的時候比較頑皮，別人家的小孩子學鋼琴、學跳舞、學書法，可她卻學什么東西都靜不下心來，于是父母就讓她參加了一個小演員培訓班。

At that time， Director Chen Jialin for the TV series Tang Minghuang was going to pick out actresses. Luckily， four-year-old Yang Mi was chosen to play the role of Princess Xianyi in this TV series. When she was five years old， she acted as Su Can’s daughter in the film King of Beggars. And she featured (主演) the TV series Little Monkey with Liuxiaolingtong. When she was 15 years old， with her classmates’ suggestion， she sent her photos to a fashionable magazine Ruili. And she was chosen as a model of the magazine.

剛好陳家林導演的《唐明皇》劇組來挑演員，4歲的楊冪幸運地被挑上了，出演《唐明皇》里的咸宜公主。之后，5歲的楊冪又在香港電影《武狀元蘇乞兒》中飾演蘇燦的女兒。6歲時，與六小齡童一起主演電視劇《猴娃》。15歲時，楊冪在同學的建議下把自己的照片寄給了《瑞麗》時尚雜志社，被編輯選中后做起了雜志模特。

In 2004， the 18-year-old Yang Mi played the role of Guo Xiang in The Return of the Condor Heroes. After the TV series was broadcast in Hong Kong， Yang Mi was very popular in Hong Kong and people claimed that she is the most innocent (單純的) Guo Xiang. Yang Mi also said that this TV series was very important to her.

2004年，18歲的楊冪接演《神雕俠侶》里的郭襄一角。該劇在香港地區(qū)開播后，楊冪深得香港觀眾喜歡。香港觀眾盛贊楊冪是有史以來最清純的郭襄。楊冪也表示《神雕俠侶》對自己來說意義重大。

In 2005， after beating some A-list actresses such as Fan Bingbing， Li Bingbing， Gao Yuanyuan and so on， Yang Mi was chosen to paly the role of Wang Zhaojun. In the same year， she entered Department of Performing Arts in Beijing Film Academy.

2005年，楊冪《王昭君》的選角中，擊敗范冰冰、李冰冰、高圓圓等國內一線演員，出演女主角王昭君。同年，楊冪考入北京電影學院表演系。

In 2008， Yang Mi played the role of Qing Wen in the TV series The Dream of Red Marsions. Later， she acted as Tang Xuejian in Chinese Paladin 3. After it was broadcast， the fans left her messages which said that she performed a perfect Xuejian. In 2009， she played the role of a beautiful killer Mo Xueyuan. Net friends said that she was the most moving servant girl. In 2011， the role of Luo Qingchuan in Gongsuoxinyu made the audience have a deeper understanding of her.

2008年，楊冪在新版《紅樓夢》中扮演晴雯一角，之后她又在《仙劍奇?zhèn)b傳三》中扮演唐雪見一角。《仙劍奇?zhèn)b傳三》登陸各大電視臺后，數(shù)萬仙劍迷給她留言，聲稱她演出了一個完美的雪見。2009年，楊冪又在《美人心計》中飾演了絕色殺手莫雪鳶，網友贊她為“最感人丫鬟”。2011年，她在《宮鎖心玉》中飾演的洛晴川一角更是讓觀眾對她有了一個更加深刻的認識。
