On December 9th Chinalco signed a framework agreement for strategic cooperation with China Three Gorges Group Corporation (“Three Gorges Group”) in Beijing.

Both sides will carry out comprehensive cooperation in the investment and construction of domestic and oversea hydro power energy,mineral resource development and other fields.The main contents for the agreement between both sides are focused on “Aluminumelectricity Joint Operation” aspect, both sides will further explore areas for cooperation both at home and abroad.

Aluminum-electricity joint operation is a common method widely used by large aluminum enterprises at the present stage, which involves joint operation between electrolytic aluminum plant and power supply enterprises in order to lower the cost of power purchase. Because Aluminum-electricity joint operation can bring huge economic benefits to both electrolytic aluminum manufacturers and power plants, it has gained widespread application both at home and abroad.

Meanwhile, on December 14th China CNR Corporation signed a framework agreement for strategic cooperation with Chinalco. Both sides will establish relation for mutual prioritized product supply, strengthen cooperation in science innovation and new strategic industry, in order to promote the long term development of both sides.

According to the agreement, China CNR Corporation and Chinalco will fully bring out their respective strengths to complement each other’s advantages, in order to promote common development of both sides, and establish long term stable strategic cooperation partner relation.

China CNR Corporation needs huge amount of high quality nonferrous metal materials including aluminum and copper in high-end manufacture of railway transport equipment. Chinalco boasts leading domestic ability in researching and manufacturing nonferrous metal materials,capable of meeting the needs of China CNR Corporation for nonferrous metal materials in its development process.
