Enjoying Home-Made Meals at Mediterraneo

What’s the difference between dining out and dining in at your apartment? Maybe a restaurant in a serviced apartment can serve you differently. Mediterraneo Restaurant at Oakwood Residence Beijing offers various cuisines with those home-like warm feelings.

With sophisticated audiovisual equipment, complimentary Wi-Fi access and a topnotch catering team, Mediterraneo Restaurant features daily buffet breakfast as well as fi ne Mediterranean cuisines from Italy, France,Spain, Greece and North Africa and freshly baked foods throughout the day, such as Neapolitan pizza, pasta, seafood and grill, as well as sandwiches and snacks. It also offers English and Asian dishes.

The outdoor terrace is not to be missed.In spring, summer and autumn, guests can sit outside for breakfast, and in the evening they can read, relax and have a glass of wine on the peaceful terrace. In summer barbecues are available, and the residence offers a fi xed barbecue area that guests can use. The residence will also supply materials guests need.

The set lunch menu incorporates twocourse and three-course for eight-week rotation to feed diversity of people. And the prices are quite friendly. Two-course lunch costs only 98 yuan or 108 yuan without service charge.

A strong catering team guarantees highquality food and beverage services at the residence. Waiters, waitress and some chefs speak English. Phillip Robinson, executive chef, comes from England. He has worked in China for three years and joined in Oakwood two and a half years ago.

Food and beverage manager Eduard Ruppel, a German citizen, has 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He has worked in every major German city, and has been in China for five years. Before joining Oakwood, he participated in the opening of Westin Beijing Chaoyang.

“We mean to be a family-oriented establishment. It’s not quite a hotel, and it’s better than a hotel. We are trying to be as friendly as possible and get to know the guests,” said Robinson.

“You know everybody and everybody feels like at home,” Ruppel said.

“We try to offer whatever you want. If a guest wants a dish done in a different way,we’ll do that,” said Robinson. For example,some guests like our pizza, but they don’t like too much cheese and they like extra things on the top. No problem, the restaurant will do that.

This restaurant creates more for the inhouse guests, but not only for the residents here. Other guests are also welcome, said Ruppel.

Even cooking for family, you need something fresh. The restaurant changes the menus every quarter and the breakfast menu is changed every day on a weekly basis.

It also combines promotion with seasons.Every three months there will be a big food and beverage event, like wine and cheese,barbecue party, Christmas party, National Day party, Halloween party and all other major holidays in the world.

The promotion going on now is Mediterraneo movie package, which includes pizza of Margherita, Americano or Hawaii Nochos with cheese, popcorn of cream sweet taste or salt and pepper taste, as well as six packs of Tsingtao beer or six packs of Coca Cola, Fanta or Sprite. The price for these is 165 yuan.

The Lounge Bar and AI Fresco Terrace is open daily from 6:30 a.m. Happy Hour is available every Friday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., when you can buy one drink and get one free.
