泰格?伍茲（Tiger Woods）的字面意思就是“森林老虎”，霸氣十足的名字似乎注定了他在高爾夫球場(chǎng)上不可動(dòng)搖的地位。一個(gè)黑人、一個(gè)高爾夫球霸主、一個(gè)廣告商的寵兒、一個(gè)身價(jià)最昂貴的體育明星，連邁克爾?喬丹都崇拜的人……他是如何成長(zhǎng)成為高爾夫球之王的呢？

Practice, practice, practice! Thats how Tiger Woods became a championship golfer. He started playing golf when he was very young, and by the time he was 6 years old he was an amazing golfer. His father, Earl, was his coach.

When Tiger was just a baby, his dad made a driving range in his garage with carpet and a net. Tiger would sit in his high chair and watch his dad practice.

When he was 9 months old, his dad sawed off a golf club to make it very short, and Tiger could strike the ball into the net. When he was 18 months old (just a year and a half), he began going to the golf course with Dad. He hit buckets of balls on the driving range.

When he was 4 years old, they hired a coach for him. When he was 6, he began entering junior contests.

Tiger listened to tapes to improve his confidence in himself. His dad helped him to learn to focus in spite of distractions. He stood in front of Tiger and said, “Im a tree”, and he would have to hit the ball over his father. Earl would jingle the coins in his pocket to distract him, or roll a ball in front of him and Tiger learned to concen-trate oｎ the game.

Even though it sometimes made him angry, the training helped him. Once a walkie talkｉｅ made a loud noise during Tigers swing at the ball. He said he never heard the radio because he was so focused on hitting the ball.

He cannot stand to lose. He does not be-come angry, but he goes out and practices even harder to not make the same mistakes.

In the year 2000, when he was 24 years old, he won four major golf tournaments; the U.S. Open, and U.S. Amateur and the British ｏｐen and British Amateur.

He is so much better than any other golfers that some say he is the greatest golfer to ever play the game.

泰格4歲時(shí)，家里為他請(qǐng)了專(zhuān)門(mén)的高爾夫球教練。6歲時(shí)，泰格開(kāi)始參加青少年高爾夫球比賽。

泰格通過(guò)邊打球邊聽(tīng)磁帶來(lái)增強(qiáng)自信心。父親幫助泰格學(xué)會(huì)了在干擾面前集中注意力。他站在泰格前面說(shuō)“我是一棵樹(shù)”， 泰格的球必須越過(guò)父親這棵樹(shù)。泰格打球時(shí)，父親還會(huì)將口袋的硬幣弄得叮當(dāng)響、或是在他面前滾球來(lái)分散泰格的注意力，而泰格便這樣漸漸學(xué)會(huì)了比賽時(shí)要全神貫注。

盡管這種訓(xùn)練有時(shí)也惹惱了泰格，但泰格還是從中獲益匪淺。一次在他揮球時(shí)，步話機(jī)發(fā)出了極大噪音，可泰格說(shuō)他根本沒(méi)聽(tīng)見(jiàn)步話機(jī)的聲音，因?yàn)樗珜?zhuān)注于擊球了。

泰格受不了失敗，但他在失敗后并不生氣，而是走到場(chǎng)地上更努力地訓(xùn)練以免犯同樣的錯(cuò)誤。

2000年，在泰格24歲時(shí)，他贏得了四場(chǎng)重要的高爾夫球賽：美國(guó)公開(kāi)賽、美國(guó)業(yè)余賽、英國(guó)公開(kāi)賽、英國(guó)業(yè)余賽。

正是因?yàn)樘└裼兄绕渌魏胃郀柗蚯蜻x手更為優(yōu)異的成績(jī)，有人說(shuō)他是有史以來(lái)最偉大的高爾夫球手。
