A: He may offer you a post in his firm.
B: Really?
A: Yeah. He has decided.
B: I cant believe it. Why? Maybe this thing isnt simple as it looks.
A: Yeah, he has an axe to grind.
B: Whats it about?
A: He wants to stand well with your father.
A:他會在他的公司里給你安排一個職位。
B:是嗎?
A:他是這么決定的。
B:我不信。為什么呀?或許事情并不像表面那么簡單。
A:可能他是有別的企圖。
B:哦?
A:他想博取你父親的好感。
2. keep an eye to the main chance 牟私利,唯利是圖
A:I heard that you and John earned a lot of money this time.
B:Actually I dont like doing business with him.
A:Why?His information is always right and the profits are high.
B:But he always keeps an eye to the main chance so dearly.
A:聽說你和約翰這回做了筆大買賣。
B:實際上,我并不喜歡和他做生意。
A:怎么啦?他消息靈通,做的生意利潤又大。
B:可他總是那樣明顯的唯利是圖。
3. have faith in 信任,相信
A: Do you think people still have faith in the government?

A: So its no wonder people cannot keep faith in it.

B:我看不會了。
A:為什么?

A:所以人們無法再信任政府也沒什么大驚小怪的。
4. have had ones day 不再應(yīng)時,已過全盛時期
A: He used to be a very able businessman.
B: But he has had his day.
A: Yeah. Time passed by, everything has changed.
B: Why do you sigh mournfully? You should know that everything is developing, and has its own end.
A: After all, he had his own day and still in the memory of us,right?
B: Right. We should have an optimistic view of life.
A:他過去是個非常能干的商人。
B:如今已遠(yuǎn)不如往昔了。
A:對呀。時間流逝,物是人非呀!
B:怎么如此悲嘆?你應(yīng)該明白事物總在發(fā)展中,一切終有結(jié)果。
A:畢竟,他曾風(fēng)光一時,那景象依然還記憶猶新,是不是?
B:是的??晌覀儜?yīng)該擁有一個樂觀的人生觀。
5. have it act 解決爭端
A: I know you didnt agree with me at that point. Please talk with me, OK?
B: Do I have the right to change your idea?
A: Dont be in the sulks, lets have it act.
B: I have no time to discuss with you.
A: Oh, please, dont be like that, we are friends, right?
A:我知道在那點上你和我意見不一致,跟我說說好嗎?
B:我有權(quán)力改變你的主意嗎?
A:別生悶氣了。我們說出來解決行不行?
B:我沒工夫和你討論。

A: Julie, change the TV channel, its time for news.

B: News just is a trick played by politicians.
A:茱麗,換電視頻道,該看新聞了。
